I am interested in exploring how we live in a constant interplay of social and sensory interactions where we affect and are affected by each other. This is an invitation to consider what matters, what…Continue

Autumn is nearly here: time to reflect: what has mattered to me this summer and how did it affect me?

Being immersed in nature - lots and lots of camping, particularly enjoyed the storms, dolphins and seals, bodyboarding, outdoor theatre, full up days laughing with friends - damp, windy bliss.

Contributing - being involved in care for the elderly - particularly in being involved in the interview process for the next Devon Director of Social Services, it moves me deeply to be of service for those who have enabled us to live.

Creating - photographing the family farm which is to be developed as the new town Cranbrook very soon, feeling sad, glad for what we've had and wanting to share the beautiful and emotional qualities I experience there.

Ageing - 55 next month - wow is that really me? happy and grateful to to be here  - I love being alive!

Hi Tony, YES..  in fact *any* magic moment is worth remembering; It floods the body with endorphins just remembering. - as well as pausing and really taking in the magic as it happens!!)
I have an exercise I do, sometimes, that can really help support this (let me know if you'd like a free Inspiration eSheet I've done on that.)

Hi Tony, Yes nature can be very healing when times are challenging, you've reminded me to spend more time outdoors  today - thank you so much for that. Josie

Thanks Christoffer for introducing that theme - sounds really interesting and I hope you'll share something about that with us...

The idea of this group resonated for me. In a general sense, I find personally that the sensory effects of nature are hugely restorative after battling the down side of social interaction.  For instance (from my own past) seeing a kingfisher or the seal after spending hours on the phone in Totnes jobcentre...

I am noticing two things most strongly at the moment.

Firstly the impact of economic changes affecting the care of my mum and the elderly in Newton Abbot. Changes meant that many of the carers who cared for my mum have left. This has felt like losing good close friends and so we have both felt quite sad and upset about it. However it has led me to become involved in forums discussing creative ways of approaching elderly care in Devon where I can give some productive input which feels good.

Secondly the beautiful family farm where I grew up and in which my cousin still lives is to be developed as the centre of the new town, Cranbrook, in East Devon. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this as you can imagine. However I am going to undertake a creative approach using video, sound and photography to document my responses to the farm for my MA Fine Art project. I'll let you know how it goes...
