A view on mindfulness and an attempt to describe its meaning.

"First of all I need to clarify that to my mind, the term mindfulness isn’t a noun. To me it’s a verb, a work in progress, a state of being in constant flux and a personal experience as well, not easily caught in a definition for the satisfaction of one's mind. The construction of the word "mindfull-ness" seems a bit misleading as if it's about something that needs to become manifest as a result, a full-fillment. Isn’t it a relief to be done with getting a result and with judging oneself saying…See More

What INSPIRES you? Your work? Other areas?
What inspires me is exploring life, love and nature of this beautiful planet Earth. And the beauty of Dartmoor in particular. There's no landscape that equals its uniqueness and charm, in all seasons of the year. As an artist by nature, I create drawing in nature, on paper and I take loads of pictures. July 2016 is the start of a new phase, my retirement. Very happy to enjoy the freedom to do the work my hands will find pleasant doing, to build and sustain communal village life with kind and skilled residents on Dartmoor. I'm spending time doing all kinds of creative work, spinning wool, knitting hedgehogs or socks, drawing nature on long walks and sitting against trees, reading and writing. Bike-trips to the coast.... I'm looking forward to enjoy the safety of the cycle path from Plymouth to Ilfracombe, the former railway tracks. I do love those low key, laid back gatherings, for all kinds of charity, with raffles, tea, coffee and cake, including a knit&natter group and a choir.
All in that typical English style, with much fuss and topics, discussed at length, held upside down and turned inside out! The amount of time English people need to discuss and find solutions, is about 3 times as much as the Dutch need. It's hilarious and I'm having great fun. As for balance, the sense of humour in Britain is great!

What do you hope to get by taking part in this site?
I'm an artist, writer, nutritionist, cook and gardener. I love to create and share the good things of life and create more of the same in a down to earth way, preferably in the real world.... out there. With real people. I look forward to new connections with members and some of their activities in Totnes and other parts of the S. West of Devon.

Hello Marian. Looking at your photos - they tell a story! I am reminded of my visit to 'Landmatters' near Totnes, last year. It looks like you have quite a diverse age range in your community - or is it a very large family?

Now I get why you'd be drawn to this area! Hope to meet with you when you are here.

Hello Marian - Welcome to CCD.
I was at first surprised to see that you live in the Netherlands - but reading your text I see you've connections to this area.

Do you know Rosie Perks and Eline Kleift? Both have trained with the School of Movement Medicine. Rosie holds regular MM classes near Totnes. Eline is also from your country of origin. (They probably know Annemeike.)

Now that you are a member, do check out the 'getting started' menu above as this will give help on adding a profile photo and adding events - if you want to add events, do read through the 'Adding an Event' information as there are requirements we ask for.
Also, read this blog I added recently: it's about CCD news and I touch on a variety of aspects of CCD: privacy, getting involved and more - your privacy on your own CCD page is set by yourself so best to know about this.

I also run dances (dance-at... and Music-Led - see this page & Events) where some CCD members go - it's perhaps a way to meet others.

I am now familiar with how this site works - and know it has is quirks too. Ning.com supply the software  - that we pay for each year through donations from members - it can take a bit of getting used to. Hope you find your way around.

All the best,
Robert

Hello Marian,

Thanks for joining us ..   look forward to  knowing more about you and what you do?

As you are here to connect with people and let them know about what you do.  You may find some of the things I've put in my TOP TIPS blog will help you connect and share what you do, and will support you to get the most out of CCD  - CLICK HERE :-)

As we don't have someone on CCD doing 'moderating', and as you now have a place on CCD where people can post comments do read these Guidelines re posting and hosting comments  CLICK HERE  (the ‘we’ in CCD is all of us here – not a steering group or something like that that to manage CCD!!)

I really hope this site serves you well.

much love and warmth

~
Christoffer

PS  Robert Moore,  who does quite a lot of in the background admin and supporting of CCD, has done a Getting Started guide CLICK HERE,

PPS  Also, you are very welcome to share about your artofcare website. That’s one of the reasons I started CCD, to encourage us to share what we do, and get support and give support to others.   If/as/when you do promote what you do, sometimes also take time every once in a while to comment on other peoples events etc, not just post yours!   This then gives something back to directly encourage others.  Help someone feel welcome, appreciated, and supported to also share their gifts.  Take one, (or several) of the ideas on this,  http://creativedevon.ning.com/profiles/blogs/a-few-top-tips-to-hlep-you-connect-with-others-and-share-what-you
